Overview

The General section is where you adjust all of the slideshow settings. You can change the look and outputs in a variety of ways. Let's begin!

Required Steps

1. Select Your Monitored Folder

The Monitored Folders section is where you select the folder Slide will watch for new images and video files. New files will display in the Slideshow once saved to the monitor folder you choose. We will break down the three folder options you can select below.

  • Local - You can add a local folder from your PC to monitor and display on the Slideshow for sharing.

  • Dropbox - You can sign in to your Dropbox account to select a folder to use with PicPic Slide. When you add files to the Dropbox folder, PicPic Slide will display them in your Slideshow.

  • Device Server - You can add the PicPic Social Device Server as a monitored folder. Choose the type of Monitored folder option that best suits your needs. The Slideshow will use the same watch folder selected in the device server.

Important Note: Ensure you don't have a Server Password set for the device server if you want to select it as a Monitored Folder.

Please check out the video below on how to choose the device server as a monitored folder:

2. Select Your Slideshow Mode

Adjust how the Slideshow displays files and shares in this section. We will break down each available mode and setting below.

  • Basic (Full Screen) - A standard slideshow where the image/video utilizes the entire screen. You cannot adjust the layout settings for the "Full-Screen" mode. No QR-sharing features are available in this mode.

  • Basic (Standard) - A standard slideshow mode allows you to upload a background image layout. No QR-sharing features are available in this mode.

  • QR Sharing (Direct) - A QR-sharing slideshow displays WiFi and downloads QR codes. This mode requires a router to work correctly. You adjust the router settings on the QR Sharing tab on main if this mode is selected.

  • QR Sharing (Microsites) - A QR-sharing slideshow, where the Qr-code links to a single image microsite. You can only use this mode if you select the Device Server as your Monitored Folder. You can find out more about customizing your Microsite template settings here.

Edit Layout - You can adjust the Slideshow layouts for all modes except "Basic (Full Screen)." You can find out more about modifying the PicPic Slide Layout Editor in the guide below.

3. Select Your Slideshow Output

This setting allows you to select between your PC screen or your Google Chrome browser to display the Slideshow. We break down both options below:

  • Screen - This output will display the Slideshow on your PC monitor/screen. You can extend the displays if you have a separate monitor or TV. You can check out a guide on doing so in Windows 10 here.

  • Chromecast - You can display the Slideshow on Google Chromecast. When selected, the Slideshow will open in a new tab in your Google Chrome browser. You can then cast it to a Chromecast device connected to a TV.

4. Other Slideshow Settings

Adjust how the Slideshow displays files and shares in this section. We will break down each available setting below:

  • Display Time - This controls how long the images will display when the Slideshow runs. This setting only controls how long pictures are displayed. It does not impact videos at all.

  • Video Loop - You can set the video loop to play multiple times within this setting. We recommend setting this to two from zero if guests may be slower to scan and download their files from the Slideshow.

  • Effect Duration - This controls how long the Slideshow will take to go from one file to another.

  • Thumbnail Timestamp - This controls the thumbnail image of a video file on the sharing and gallery page. This way, you can easily distinguish each file.

5. Available Slideshow Effects

You can select a variety of effects to use during the transitions from one file to another. The "Available Effects" only apply to images in the monitor folder, not videos. The only transition effect used for videos is a "Fade" effect.

Important Note: You can deselect all effects by right-clicking any FX and pressing the "Deselect All" option.

6. Advertisements

You can select a folder with JPEGs to be displayed periodically throughout the Slideshow in this section.

  • Advertisement After - Adjust the number of files shown before the ad(s) displayed during the Slideshow. Set this setting to 1 if you want the ad viewed after every other file.

If you would like to display the event flier or an announcement throughout the Slideshow, this is the perfect opportunity.
