Overview

Our PicPic Social device server application is what you install on your computer. It creates a connection with your PC’s photo booth software, your PicPic Social account, and the sharing station. It watches for new files from your photo booth software and then transfers them to your sharing station and uploads them to your online account. Here are the steps you need to install and configure it on your Windows PC.

Installing the Device Server on your PC

  1. Download the Device Server application from the PicPic Social website here.

  2. Click the Download button under Device Server.

  3. When the download is complete, begin the installation by double-clicking the file. Please check your PC’s Downloads folder (CTRL+J) if you have issues locating the installation file.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Windows may state that the device server installation file is unsafe. Click More Info > Run Anyway to get the installation process started.

  4. Please follow the series of prompts to have the application installed in the default location on your computer.

Configuring the Device Server PC

It’s time to get the ball rolling with setting up the device server.

  1. After successfully installing the Device Server, click the Windows icon in the lower lefthand corner of your screen and search for “PicPic Social - Device Server.” Select the app from the list to run it.

  2. A window will appear asking for your PicPic Social account login email address and password. Enter your necessary credentials and click the Login button.

  3. The next step is to add a Watch Folder on the Device Server. The folder you select will be monitored for new files. When you save files to the Watch Folder chosen, they will display on the Sharing Station to be viewed and shared by guests.

    • Click the Add button, select the Folder option to select a local folder, and click the Next button.

    • Click the Select Folder button to choose your photo booth PC’s output folder you would like to use. Ensure that the folder selected already has images or video files inside it. Click OK once complete.

  4. After configuring your device server settings, you are ready to press the Start button on the General Settings screen. Now it’s time to set up the sharing station in Step 4!

Things That You Need To Know

• Update Button: The Update button is on the far-right end side of the event dropdown menu under the Event field. Whenever you make a change online of any kind (disable sharing options, upload a watermark to be applied to a photo, etc.), you must press the Update button on the Device Server.

  • Gallery Upload Queue: You monitor all files uploaded to your PicPic Social account online from this queue. If you don’t see the files in the Microsite gallery, this is the first place to look. You can find out more about the Gallery Upload Queue here.
