How to use the iOS PicPic Launcher

The iOS PicPic Launcher allows you to select an event, choose a folder or photo album to monitor, and automatically upload media to Event Cloud for sharing.

1. Download the PicPic Social iOS Launcher from the App Store

On your iPad, open the App Store and search for PicPic Social iOS Launcher.

Download and install the app before continuing. Once the app is installed, open it and keep your PicPic Social account login available.

2. Sign in to your PicPic Social account

Please sign in using your PicPic Social account email and password.

You can enable Remember Me to keep you signed in on your device.

If you forgot your password, tap Forgot Password? to reset it.

3. Select your PicPic Social event

After signing in, you’ll see your available events. You can learn more about how to create a PicPic Social event here.

Each event card in the iOS Launcher shows the following:

  • Name - The name of the event you are selecting.

  • Date - The scheduled date for the event.

  • Status - The current event status. This tells you whether the event is Published, Draft, or Upcoming. This is discussed more below.

  • Media Count - The number of media files currently uploaded to the event.

  • Share Count - The number of shares that have been sent from the event.

Tap the blue arrow beside the event you want to use.

4. Understand PicPic Social event statuses

Your event may show one of the following statuses:

  • Published

The event is live and ready to use. Uploaded media will not receive a draft or upcoming watermark.

  • Draft

The event has not been published yet. If you continue, uploaded files will include a DRAFT watermark. Publish the event first if you do not want that watermark.

  • Upcoming

The event date has not arrived yet. If you continue, uploaded files will include a UPCOMING watermark until the event date is active.

If you select a Draft or Upcoming event, the app will display a warning before you continue. Tap Continue to proceed or Cancel to go back.

5. Choose a Watch Folder

After selecting your event, you’ll be taken to the Watch Folder screen.

Tap the + button to choose where the Launcher should look for media.

You’ll see two source options:

  • Folder

Use this if your photos, GIFs, or videos are being saved to the Files app on the iPad or in a connected file location. This is best for workflows in which another app or camera system exports files to a specific folder.

  • Library

Use this if your media is saved to the iPad’s Photos app. This is best when your photos or videos are already inside the device’s photo library or a specific photo album.

Which source should I choose?

Choose Folder if your event media is being saved to the iOS Files app or to a specific folder.

Choose Library if your event media is being saved to the iPad’s Photos app.

Once you select a source, choose the folder or album you want the Launcher to monitor.

6. Upload existing files

If the selected folder or album already contains media, the app may ask:

“Do you want to upload the existing files to Event Cloud?”

Tap Yes to upload the files already in the folder.

Tap No if you only want the Launcher to upload new files added after sharing starts.

7. Start Sharing

Once your watch folder or album is selected, tap Start Sharing.

The Launcher will begin uploading media from the selected folder or album to Event Cloud.

8. Monitor the Upload Queue

After sharing starts, you’ll see the Upload Queue screen.

This screen shows:

  • Upload Status

  • Event Name

  • Uploaded files

  • File Thumbnails

  • File Names

  • Last Updated Time

Each uploaded file will show a status such as Uploaded or Completed.

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see:

  • Update - Refreshes the upload queue.

  • Pause - Temporarily pauses uploading.

  • Retry All - Retries uploads that failed or need reprocessing.

If everything is uploaded successfully, a green confirmation will appear at the top of the screen, such as "All 5 Uploaded."

9. Exiting the Upload Queue

If you try to leave the Upload Queue while sharing is active, the app may warn you:

“Exiting the Upload Queue will clear any pending or future files that haven’t been uploaded yet.”

Tap Cancel to stay on the Upload Queue.

Tap Continue only if you’re sure you want to exit and stop monitoring pending or future files.

10. Use the Network Menu

Tap the green network/Wi-Fi button at the bottom of the screen to open the Network Menu.

The Network Menu has two sections:

  • Speed Test

Use this to test the device’s upload speed.

Tap the large speed test button to run the test. When complete, the app will show your upload speed in Mbps and a quality rating, such as Good.

You can tap Share Results to send the speed test results for diagnostics if support asks for them.

  • Sharing Settings

The Sharing Settings tab shows the current sharing status. When sharing is active, you’ll see:

    • Sharing Status

    • Event name

    • Media Count

    • Event Date

    • Shared Folders

    • Device Connection Details

    • Local Connection URL

This screen is useful for confirming that the Launcher is active and connected properly.

Best Practices

Use a published event whenever possible to avoid Draft or Upcoming watermarks.

Keep the iPad connected to a stable Wi-Fi network while uploading.

Run a speed test if uploads feel slow.

Stay on the Upload Queue screen during active sharing to confirm files are uploading.

Use Retry All if files do not upload the first time successfully.

Do not exit the Upload Queue while files are still pending unless you’re okay with clearing pending or future uploads.
